Fresh from filming his online sketch series “Now More Than Ever” at home during the pandemic, one of Toronto’s most accomplished solo sketch comedians brings an entire troupe's worth of eccentric characters, maddening plot twists, strange stories and high drama to the stage. Jon Blair has performed at Just For Laughs, the Halifax Fringe, and sketch festivals in Philadelphia, New York, Toronto and Montreal. He currently writes for CBC Radio’s Because News and has written on 5 seasons of This Hour Has 22 Minutes.

Hitting the stage harder than a dropped mic, Blackout is back from their COVID-(hi)ATUS with a one-off show featuring some of the Edmonton’s best faces in sketch comedy and improv. Yeah, you read that right. We’re all about faces. 

About Blackout: Formed in 2014 and inspired by the writing styles of Key & Peele and Auntie Donna (if you don’t know em, you ain’t living btw), the rotating cast of Blackout continually pushes their comedy to new levels which never fails to slap a smile on a crying baby. Just kidding, don’t bring babies to our show. Blackout has written for one or two satirical shorts you may have seen this year (winky smiley face) and have had the joy of bringing in the laughs across North America…digitally. Yeah, we’re talking Ontario, baby!

Covid-19 & The Grindstone Comedy Festival-

The Grindstone Comedy Festival is operating under the guidance of Alberta Health Services and Phase 3 of the Open for Summer Plan. We are encouraging all guests to wear masks; however we will follow the guidance of Alberta Health and the City of Edmonton regarding mandatory masks. We have increased the cleaning and sanitizing protocols and practices in our bistro, theatre, and backstage spaces.
