Have you ever felt like the Emergency Department is a circus? Completely overstimulating with a variety of characters floating in and out of every scene. Situations changing and evolving every moment, never quite knowing what is coming next. Well, I definitely have. My name is Carly Szanik and I work as a registered nurse at the University of Alberta Emergency Department. With help from the Canadian Council for the Arts, the Firefly AIR Program and many talented individuals I have been able to bring the ER to the circus stage. This show will represent the funny, lighthearted, crazy-making and heartbreaking moments that happen daily in the ER, all through aerial circus arts (and some magical juggling). Performers will be a combination of local artists and ER healthcare providers. Proceeds from the event will go to supporting STARS, the Edmonton Food Bank and local performing artists. It’s worth trading your shift for, I promise. We hope to see you there.
