Description
Youth Rising: Stories, Connection & Action
The Calgary Justice Film Festival (CJFF), in partnership with the Human Rights Collective (a youth human rights organization), invites you to kick back for a casual coffee event of film, conversation, and connection exploring the stories, experiences, and ideas shaping a generation. The $5 ticket purchase will be donated to charity.
Featuring the powerful film Sudan, Remember Us* (rated +14), this event brings forward the voices of young people navigating change, civic action, and the future. Through personal storytelling and powerful filmmaking, the film captures a generation of young Sudanese fighting for freedom, justice, and a more democratic future. It explores the power of poetry, music, art, and collective action as tools for resistance, connection, and political transformation.
Following the screening, join the youth of the Human Rights Collective and others in an engaging panel discussion, exploring what it means to show up, get involved, and create change. The focus of the conversation will be community action, storytelling, solidarity, and the many ways young people are building movements and shaping the world around them.
This is a space to connect, ask questions, and be part of a youth-powered conversation.
*Given the sensitive and potentially disturbing, content of the film, including military violence and repression, this is a 14+event ONLY.
