Christine Lavin started her professional life as a waitress/bread baker at the Caffe Lena in Saratoga Springs, NY in 1975 where she met Dave Van Ronk who encouraged her to study guitar with him in NYC. She took his advice and became a singer songwriter, guitarist, recording artist, author and videographer based in New York City.

Her latest solo album, DRUM SCHOOL DROPOUT, is her 26th album, and the lead-off single, "The Best Summer" was declared the #1 song for the month of August by the international Folk DJs (Christine was #3 artist in August, and her album was #4). She has also produced 12 compilation albums over the years that showcase some of the best singer/songwriters in the English speaking world (US, Canada, UK, Ireland) -- the Canadian artists include Grit Laskin, Kat Goldman, and Lynn Miles. A British songwriter Daniel Cainer is on "Seasons," as is Ireland's Declan O'Rourke. They are all on the 80-song compilation that Christine released as "The Seasons Project" in 2023.
