Description
Chris Murphy has been in the band Sloan for over 30 years. Chris got into the super group game in 2015 when he formed a trio called TUNS (rhymes with buns) with Matt Murphy (Super Friendz/The Flashing Lights) and Mike O’Neill (The Inbreds). Now on a supergroup kick, he formed Trans-Canada Highwaymen in 2017 with Steven Page (ex Barenakedladies), Moe Berg (The Pursuit of Happiness) and Craig Northey (Odds). Then in 2018 some of his other musician friends were complaining they weren’t in a super group so Chris went ahead and agreed to make Anyway Gang with Sam Roberts (Sam Roberts Band), David Monks (Tokyo Police Club) and Menno Versteeg (Hollerado). Please don’t ask Chris to form a group with you. He doesn’t have time. What little time Chris has left over has been earmarked for solo shows where Chris plays songs and tells stories accompanied by acoustic guitar.
Peter Elkas is an award-winning singer songwriter and producer from Toronto, Canada. Originally from Montreal, he spent his formative years in the alt-rock band Local Rabbits. As a touring session multi-instrumentalist and vocalist, he has toured internationally backing the likes of Neko Case, Joel Plaskett, Andy Kim, and others.
Over the last 20 years he has released multiple albums under his own name, produced by the likes of Don Kerr (Ron Sexsmith, Bahamas) and Charlie Sexton (Bob Dylan, Elvis Costello). Party Of One, Wall Of Fire, Repeat Offender, and Lion are celebrated and influential Toronto indie staples. Peter Elkas has shared stages with many celebrated artists such Feist, The Doobie Brothers, Nick Lowe, and Bruce Springsteen. He recently collaborated with Toronto’s Dani Nash (July Talk, Sarah Harmer) to co-write and co-produce her critically acclaimed self-titled debut LP and recent singles Ordinary Love / Anything At All in his Toronto Studio The Nest, a writing and production hub for songwriters and performers such as Charlotte Cornfield, CHOIR CHOIR CHOIR, Sarah Harmer, and Leslie Feist. Elkas’ last single SWEET SPOT is available on all streaming platforms and was recently added into rotation on CBC3.
Peter Elkas has more recently begun an acting career. In the 2026 Netflix original series Finding Her Edge (WildBrain productions), Elkas portrays Ed the local record store owner. The series has also placed the song LION LION from his 2018 ep Lion in an episode featuring Elkas. In addition, Netflix released an official playlist for Finding Her Edge including the ragged rock song.
“Lion Lion has taken on a new life since I wrote it. The lyrics were written years ago as a vague, visceral expression of intense frustration from the point of view of someone wronged who thought it best to let it lie lest they do something they might regret. “Let the lying lion lay” being the more dangerous version of letting a sleeping dog lie. The lyric “A nightmare trumps a dream” was written years before the current American president ever took office. Now the line seems to have a different meaning altogether. I was beyond thrilled to be cast as Ed in Finding Her Edge and just as excited to have a song of mine I love be featured in a scene I’m in. Some might call it a meta moment. I’m a relatively new actor and my time on set was a blast. The cast and crew were a lot of fun and treated me as part of the family. I hope Ed gets to come back if there’s a season 2.”
