Description
Join CEC for a special “unplugged” listening of their new EP, BRIEFLY, and the songs that inspired it.
CEC is a Treaty One–based artist, producer, and songwriter blending contemporary R&B, folk, and singer-songwriter craft while writing in both English and Spanish. Drawing inspiration from 70s soul artists like Al Green and Curtis Mayfield alongside contemporary artists such as Frank Ocean and Lianne La Havas, CEC’s music is defined by slow grooves, layered vocals, and emotionally intimate songwriting. Their songs explore identity, gender, and human connection, inviting listeners into a space of reflection and emotional resonance.
Known for both technical precision and a willingness to take creative risks, their approach to songwriting and production emphasizes collaboration and organic intimacy, often blending live instrumentation with layered vocal arrangements. As a performer, CEC brings warmth, presence, and emotional honesty to every stage, drawing audiences into the nuances of each song.
CEC has toured western Canada and performed at festivals including BreakOut West, the Winnipeg International Jazz Festival, Winnipeg Folk Festival, PRIDE Winnipeg, and Festival du Voyageur. Their work as a producer has earned national recognition, including selection as one of seven producers for Music Publishers Canada’s Women in the Studio National Accelerator and a spot in the 2022 First Up with RBCxMusic roster.
Beyond their own music, CEC competes with the Spanish national hockey team and operates The Clubhouse, a Winnipeg-based recording studio dedicated to supporting queer and gender-diverse artists, producers, and engineers. Their practice emphasizes on creating spaces where underrepresented voices in music can thrive and be heard.
