The Juno Awards are returning to Halifax in March 2024, and to kick off Juno season CBC Music presents Road to the Junos, a five-night concert series featuring some of the best talent from the Maritimes.
Mi'kmaq fiddler and singer Morgan Toney brings together the fiery fiddling of Cape Breton Island with the old songs of the Mi’kmaq with brilliance and heart. Toney’s oft-nominated debut album celebrates language and heritage with Toney’s transformation of traditional songs, including the Ko’jua and Mi’kmaq Honour songs alongside highly original songcraft.
Wolf Castle is an award-winning Mi’kmaq rapper, producer and radio host from Pabineau First Nation, N.B., who’s been heralded as “the Maritimes’ most promising young MC” by Complex. He most recently hosted CBC Music’s Reclaimed for the last six months.
DeeDee Austin is a 17-year-old singer-songwriter from the Abegweit First Nation, whose infectious energy, dynamic stage presence and authentic songwriting are creating fans across Atlantic Canada and beyond. She has most recently won the award for Indigenous artist of the year at the 2023 Music Nova Scotia Awards.
