About Carter & the Capitals
There’s no stopping the high energy five-piece funk group Carter & the Capitals. Born out of the bitter cold winters of Edmonton, Alberta, the Capitals light the stage on fire and keep everyone warm on the dance floor with their tight grooves and sparkly style of Canadian funk and soul music. The Capitals have been direct support for Village People, Busty & The Bass, Five Alarm Funk, Har Mar Superstar, and Ghost-Note, while also consistently selling out their own headline shows.
In 2019 the Capitals released their debut, self-titled album after working closely in Vancouver with Juno Award Winning producer Ben Kaplan (Mother Mother, Five Alarm Funk). Kaplan and the Capitals brought out the very best in each other, capturing the punchy, buzzing feeling of a live performance while maintaining sweet, nuanced intimate musical moments throughout. Their single “One Step from Magic” even caught the attention of T-Pain, who reviewed the song live during his Twitch stream, championing the song and exclaiming - “That was so f*king good.” Immediately after their release, the Capitals were on the road, bringing their debut album to music clubs big and small all across Canada and leaving audiences stunned and wanting more.
Now the Capitals are back in the studio tracking their tightest, funkiest record yet with the help of Juno Award Winning engineer Brad Smith and Juno nominated producer Brad Simons, set to be released in 2023. Their newest single “Lovely Lovely Lovely” is out now.
