Live Agency and Live Acts Canada Present:
Bryan Michael "Distractions" album release show with guests:
+ Brie McDaniel
+ Jaron Chidiac
+ Elliott Slinn.
Featuring a special presentation from Good Night Out Vancouver.
Good Night Out Vancouver // https://www.goodnightoutvancouver.com/
Good Night Out Vancouver was founded out of an awareness of the links between alcohol consumption and sexual aggression and initiated from community concerns that staff and patrons in Vancouver’s nightlife could benefit from education around how to recognize, interrupt and prevent sexual harassment and assault on nights out
We use recent research on gendered violence, bystander intervention, and anti-oppressive techniques to create a variety of original educational tools, interventions and messaging aimed at reducing gendered and homophobic harassment and violence in our city’s arts, culture and entertainment scene. We are committed to engaging our community with these issues in ways that are authentic, meaningful and interactive. The work that Good Night Out has done in Vancouver has been presented on a local and international scale, with our team being looked to as experts in the field of violence against women.
OUR MISSION:
We want to see a cultural shift in Vancouver's arts, culture and nightlife. We want safer nights out for all.
Bryan Michael (Vancouver) // http://thebryanmichael.com
Bryan Michael creates art that chronicles his own experiences through melancholic songs about winning some, losing more, and getting punched in the face. His bittersweet combination of radically vulnerable lyrics and soaring vocals impel you to feel every single thing that he feels.
Distractions is a vessel for striking, existential unburdening in which Michael funnels first-person accounts of grief, depression, yearning, rejection, and self-worth into a worldview that seems both chaotic and consoling. In his unbridled but steady voice, a voice trained on pop-punk in his previous project Sharks! On Fire! and later subdued to spare, acoustic rock, Michael searches for meaning in a world so full of pain it can drive a person mad. The old cliche about musicians having their whole lives to make their debut ring true here, the earliest composition and single, Demons, dates back to Michael's early twenties; A song he crafted as a means of catharsis during times of confusion and fragility. Having an abundance of western-Canadian shows under his belt, it won't be long before this songwriter's wry observation and emotional honesty has everybody talking.
Distractions will be available on Apple Music/iTunes, Spotify, and all other digital retailers/streaming services on Saturday, May 11th, 2019.
Bre McDaniel: (Vancouver) // https://www.facebook.com/bremcdanielmusic/
Born in Vancouver, Bre McDaniel released her first EP with the completion of her Fine Arts degree at Emily Carr University. She handed in one of her final papers with a song she had recorded of similar theme, and like her drawings and paintings, she often shapes her music from serendipitous research or a local story that provokes her. Touring in support of her previous release, she has been found gracing the stages of The Vancouver Writers Festival, Khatsahlano Fest, odd cafes and living room carpets from here to PEI. Her past recordings have been described as having "an ethereal but intimate dream-folk sound," (The Georgia Straight) and her roots as a performer are close by. Her mother was also a singer/songwriter and they share a birth date on an annual meteor shower called the Tears of St Lawrence. Her debut full length album is out October 26, available on itunes and other online retailers.
“McDaniel proves she has the tools to transcend the limits of folk music on Light Pollution; she channels the light into something beautiful.” – Gray Owl Point
"Bre is a very special Canadian talent as not only is she as a singer/songwriter and visual artist, she is someone who has something to say in her songwriting and art with important social topics such as homelessness" - Pete Shuchuk (Co-Host of CJSR Radio – The Shoebox, Vice President, Legends of the Edmonton Music Scene Society)
Jaron Chidiac: (Vancouver) // https://www.facebook.com/Belcarramusic/
Belcarra is an Indie Rock band hailing from Vancouver BC.
Formed in the Fall of 2016 by solo singer-songwriter Jaron Chidiac, members Roan Wallace, Ricardo Germaine and Adrian Fitzpatrick draw on a variety of musical talent and experience. As previous session musicians, producers, and writers, all four members bring an excellent focus, and professional work ethic to the project.
As a result of their hard work and dedication, Beclarra - after only being a band for one year - has seen great sucess in the local music scene. Belcarra have been featured in the top four in "The Best of Vancouver" Music competition, and recently tied for first place in the "Sham Rocks" music festival. Belcarra's live performances have been called passionate and energetic. This recently drew the attention of local upcoming producer Matt Di Pomponio. Over the past year Belcarra worked with Di Pomponio to release their debut EP - "Hollow Tree" - completed in the fall of 2017. The EP was recorded near Belcarra National Park at Echo Plant Sound Studios in Port Coquitlam.
Upon release of "Hollow Tree" Belcarra is planning small spring tours and more local shows in the Vancouver area.
