Description
This FREE experiential and educational workshop, developed specifically for the Peaks & Valleys art exhibit, will explore music’s power to help with mental health. Led by accredited music therapist, registered clinical counsellor, and Whistler resident Luke Burton, this 90-minute workshop will be playful and energizing, deep and safe.
Luke will lead the group through music-making experiences, verbal sharing, and self-reflective processes to address the mental health needs and concerns present in the room. Participants will also leave with tools and ideas for how to use music to support themselves and others going forward.
No musical experience needed.
We’ll provide simple percussion instruments, but feel free to bring your own. A journal and pen are recommended—though we’ll have supplies on hand if needed.
About the facilitator: Luke Burton is a Registered Clinical Counsellor and Accredited Music Therapist. He has a Master’s degree in Music-Centred Psychotherapy. He lives in Whistler, BC on the unceded territory of Lil’wat Nation and Squamish Nation. He leads workshops and sees individuals and groups in person and online. Visit lukeburton.online for more information.
