Description

Live Acts Canada + The Live Agency present:

Bre McDaniel with special guests Kuri and Kimmortal

BRE MCDANIEL (Vancouver) // http://www.bremcdaniel.com/

Bre McDaniel's voice has been described as magic on toast. Her most recent EP has "an ethereal but intimate dream-folk sound," (The Georgia Straight) and her roots in Canadian acoustic music are close by. Her mother was also a singer/songwriter and they share a birth date on an annual meteor shower called the Tears of St Lawrence. Born and based in Vancouver, she's an interdisciplinary artist with no shortage of inspiration to draw, paint and sing about life as it happens. McDaniel has been touring across Canada in support of her last EP, ‘Light Pollution’ and her debut full length, ‘Howl’ is coming October 26, 2018. “McDaniel proves she has the tools to transcend the limits of folk music on Light Pollution; she channels the light into something beautiful.” – Gray Owl Point

KURI (Vancouver) // https://www.facebook.com/kuriband/

Kuri is a recording artist based in Abbotsford, British Columbia. Performing for several years with his group, Oh Village, listeners have come to appreciate his honest songwriting and intriguing musicianship. Now he experiments further with bold arrangements of classical instrumentation paired with modern alternative structures.

KIMMORTAL (Vancouver) // https://kimmortal.bandcamp.com/

My name is Kimmortal. I am a queer non-binary pilipinx artist based on unceded, unsurrendered Coast Salish Territories also known as Vancouver, BC (Canada). I went to school for Visual Arts and Art History and would hit up open mics and share poetry and raps on my guitar. My work has evolved since to incorporate song, poetry, rap, dance, and visuals. Some of the highlights of my work thus far have included: being featured on CBC Exhibitionists, having my music-video animation screened at the Queer Women of Colour festival (San fran), and performing at Kultura FIlipino Arts Festival (Toronto), and SXSW 2018 and supporting my dope qtibipoc friends in arts/music. I also enjoy leading workshops that exhibit the arts as a tool for healing and decolonization and collective action. I have shared the stage with some of favourite artists including Ruby Ibarra, Shad K, and Saul Williams to name a few. My second album is coming out in the summer. Stay tuned in.
