11am-Noon Author Talk
Location: Meeting Room A+B; The J – Staenberg Family Complex in Creve Coeur (Arts & Education Building)
We’re excited to start a new season of Books and Bagels, the J’s literary brunch & learn series, where great conversation, local authors, and fresh bagels come together for a meaningful mid-morning break. Join us for our first event with beloved St. Louis author, poet, musician, and rabbi, James Stone Goodman, celebrating his latest release, Black Fire White Fire.
Black Fire White Fire is a complete Torah told in poetic verse, one foot rooted in text and the other in imagination. Rabbi Jim's book was written over the course of three and a half years, one poem every week until every portion of the Torah was covered. Each piece is set to an Eastern Mediterranean Jewish musical melody.
His presentation will weave together his poetry, his teachings, and his musical performance.
