Do you have pressing thoughts on every book you read? Have special place in your heart for Canadian literature? Want to expand your community of fellow bookworms? If this sounds like you, then the Reading by the Rivers Book Club at The Confluence is the perfect program for you!

Every month, we will read a book by a Canadian author. During the last week of the month, all readers will meet at The Confluence to discuss the book, eat and drink, and socialize with other book lovers. If you don’t own the book, don’t worry – all novels on our book list are accessible from the public library!

Tickets include complimentary hot drinks and snacks, with beer and wine available for purchase.

Becoming The Confluence Historic Site & Parkland

On May 2, 2024, Fort Calgary changed its name to The Confluence Historic Site & Parkland.

Under this new name, we are freer to expand the narrative of this place to encompass the many diverse histories of the land. Stories of the North-West Mounted Police and Fort Calgary help to define this place, but there are other important stories to be told, too. At The Confluence, storytelling is liberated and history is an open and welcoming book.
