Description

Over the past 15 years, Blueridge has grown from a grassroots musical meeting among friends to one of Vancouver’s most innovative classical music experiences. To celebrate our 15th anniversary, we present MILESTONES:  a festival celebrating four musical anniversaries.

Helmut Lachenmann at 90

Helmut Lachenmann, the iconoclastic elder statesman of the avant garde, also celebrates a big birthday in 2025—his 90th. Notorious for his radical use of unconventional techniques and textures, Lachenmann challenges the very essence of music, creating a visceral experience that captivates and challenges listeners. Lachenmann is also a revered teacher, whose influence has been felt on entire generations of younger composers.
