BIG24

The BIG Research day is an annual tradition of Bioinformatics, Interdisciplinary Oncology and Genome Science + Technology graduate programs at the University of British Columbia and Simon Fraser University.

Over 100 graduate students from all three programs gather to present their research projects and attend seminars and workshops by academic and industry professionals. Undergraduate students interested in this event are also welcome to join.

Every year the BIG Research Day explores different research areas. Our theme this year is: Novel techniques and limitations to modern methods

Participation is encouraged from interested students irrespective of their current research areas.

Graduate students (both masters and doctoral) in the bioinformatics, interdisciplinary oncology, and genome science and technology programs who are in their second year of the program or later are expected to present a poster at the annual BIG Research Day conferences as part of the program requirements.

The deadline to register for the event is Friday, February 23rd. 

For students and faculty presenting either a poster or speed talk at BIG24, we ask that you prepare an abstract. The deadline for abstract submission is February 16, 2024. Abstracts can be submitted separately from registration at the following link: https://forms.gle/thReV6aurxUpCcAF8
