The 5th year anniversary features headliners from all over North America ranging from grungy punk rock to indie
country to modern motown. Bands include: Chicago’s gender bending punk rock Ezra Furman, Toronto’s indie rock
Girlfriend Material (members from Tokyo Police Club and Hollerado), Whitehorse’s soulful powerhouse Paris Pick
and the Pricks, Nashville’s energetic roots rocker Ron Gallo, Edmonton’s indie country-crooner Bobby Tenderloin
Universe, Vancouver’s Blessed, Brooklyn’s sexy rock Bodega, Toronto’s Weaves, Oregon’s Broadway Calls, LA’s
rock duo No Age, Toronto’s Jennifer Castle and Welland Ontario’s Dboy.
This year, BWC is taking over the Beltline with stages at Broken City Social Club, Last Best Brewing and Distilling, Inner
City Brewing, Brewsters and a new secret location. With over 90 bands, multiple art installations and interactive
performances, there will be surprises to hit all the senses.
BIG Winter Classic, partnered with Winterruption festival in Regina, Saskatoon, Winnipeg and Edmonton, was born out
of the idea to celebrate Calgary year-round, not just in the fleeting summer months. Arts, music, local craft beer and
YOU collide for a four-day winter wonderland weekend.
We take the best people and communities in our city and put them in a room together to create, imagine, dream, drink
and play, all in the dead of winter. Because we’re Calgarians and dancing under patio heaters when it’s -15C outside
actually sounds perfect.
Let’s not hide away this winter, let’s emerge from our homes and into our community; let’s re-group after the holidays
and kick off the new year with glee; let’s bundle up and support our thriving music scene.
