Thirty years ago, on November 9th, 1989 the Berlin Wall fell. What was once a symbol of oppression, hatred, and division has now become one of peace, love and brotherhood. In honour of this historic moment we invite you to join us for ‘An die Freiheit - A Concert Celebrating 30 Years of the Fall of the Berlin Wall’.

Featuring four of Calgary’s premier opera singers (Kathleen Morrison, Barbara King, Oliver Munar, Adam Brousseau) and accompanied by Carlos Foggin, the evening will feature art songs, opera arias, duets and ensembles reflecting the emotion and themes of this landmark moment in our collective history.

The evening will culminate in a performance of Beethoven’s beloved ‘Ode to Joy’ from his 9th Symphony (excerpt), the work performed at the original Berlin Wall concert.
