Bagels and Bach!

Join us for Sunday brunch to celebrate our final August concert! Your ticket not only includes the opportunity to listen to a fantastic recital by Julia MacLaine, the Assistant Principal Cellist of the National Arts Centre Orchesta and PE Islander, but it will also include one of C&B Corner Cafe’s famous bagels served with homemade cream cheese! Rumour has it there may even be mimosas… The concert starts at 1pm with music in the first half hour, followed by a 30 minute intermission for bagels, delicious Samuel's coffee, and mimosas, followed by a second half hour music selection. 

Julia MacLaine

Assistant Principal Cello of the National Arts Centre Orchestra since 2014, Julia MacLaine performs worldwide as a soloist, chamber and orchestral musician in music ranging from classical to contemporary and from ‘world’ to her own arrangements and compositions. MacLaine enjoys exploring the juxtaposition of music with other art forms, of different styles of music, and of contemporary and classical music. Her début album, Préludes, released by Analekta in January 2022, features six new Canadian works written for her, alongside the six Préludes from the Bach Cello Suites that inspired the new pieces. Originally from Prince Edward Island, Julia studied with Antonio Lysy at McGill University, and with Timothy Eddy at the Mannes College of Music and at The Juilliard School.

Joignez-vous à nous pour un brunch afin de célébrer notre dernier concert du mois d'août ! Votre billet vous permettra non seulement d'écouter un fantastique récital de Julia MacLaine, assistante violoncelle solo de l'Orchestre du Centre national des Arts, mais aussi de goûter à l'un des célèbres bagels du C&B Corner Cafe, servi avec du fromage à la crème maison ! La rumeur veut qu'il y ait même des mimosas... Le concert commence à 13 h, mais nous vous invitons à arriver plus tôt pour déguster un café Samuel, un bagel et un mimosa au soleil dans notre jardin. 

Julia MacLaine

Assistante violoncelle solo de l'Orchestre du Centre national des Arts depuis 2014, Julia MacLaine se produit dans le monde entier en tant que soliste, chambriste et musicienne d'orchestre dans des musiques allant du classique au contemporain et du " monde " à ses propres arrangements et compositions. MacLaine aime explorer la juxtaposition de la musique avec d'autres formes d'art, de différents styles de musique, et de la musique contemporaine et classique. Son premier album, Préludes, sorti chez Analekta en janvier 2022, comprend six nouvelles œuvres canadiennes écrites pour elle, ainsi que les six Préludes des Suites pour violoncelle de Bach qui ont inspiré ces nouvelles pièces. Originaire de l'Île-du-Prince-Édouard, Julia a étudié avec Antonio Lysy à l'Université McGill, et avec Timothy Eddy au Mannes College of Music et à la Juilliard School.
