Welcome to Backdoor Pride Edition 2022, the party at the end of a double-rainbow. We are gay with joy to be finishing off your pride weekend in style with a massive 2 level take-over of the historic David Lam Ballroom, reimagining the site into a beautiful magic forest of possibilities, queer bodies, and unfathomable sexual energy and love. Join us in this blooming garden where anything goes and everyone is welcome, just be ready to enter through the backdoor. Celebrate homosexuality and being a queer of outrageous proportions as we reimagine this site into a gay utopia of floral magic, for one night only in a garden of desire, this is Backdoor Pride Edition, mystical garden. Plant your seed.

We couldn’t be happier to be yours as we mark off one more year of activism, advancement, and actually making visible and tangible changes to the culture. We made warehouse parties legal, we fought for your right to express your queer bodies in here, making sex on premise events possible for private events. Your body is still a battleground. From bringing the Dance Against Hate to the English Bay pride-site during the pandemic, stopping homo/transphobic hate speech, or simply making space for you to be your most illustrious and proudest self without fail, we have always been there for you to raise that FIST! With your help, we have advocated for ending the Canadian poppers ban, and brought the issue to national prominence last election. But the work never ends so let’s keep moving forward. Your dance floor has always been contested.

🌈TICKETS🌈
A portion of tickets have been reserved for new migrants, displaced queer people, nightlife workers, and those still recovering from the c19 disaster. Message us if you would like to participate in this event for a pay-what-you-can or pro-bono basis with your situation. We are happy to help! We have always been gay-for-gay, never gay for pay! Funds raised from this event go to directly supporting Vancouver Art and Leisure to continue our activism and making more queer opportunities and options for you in this city and beyond. We will never let you down.

🌈SAFETY🌈
🏳️‍🌈We believe queer people should have access to poppers which were banned by Health Canada without the consultation of queer communities who depend on poppers to help facilitate queer intimacy with less pain and more pleasure. Poppers have the therapeutic affect of loosening smooth muscle tissues and reduce tearing and can help marginalized sexual minority communities to express their sexuality more freely. We will be performing radical acts of queer love by bringing you a #safesupply.
🏳️‍🌈Get your drugs tested! If you plan to use, never use alone, and get your drugs tested. Visit getyourdrugstested.com at 880 E Hastings St to test your substances for quality and safety. We are currently living through a poisoned drug supply that is affecting marginalized queer communities and beyond. Never use inside a bathroom or anywhere not visible, you will not be kicked out of this event for being safe.
🏳️‍🌈Get yourself tested. Try to get your blood tested for STIs before July 15th to effectively remove anything from your system in time to spread love at pride. Before coming to the event we also recommend taking a home C19 test. Anyone with a positive C19 diagnosis will receive a future event credit. Thank you for protecting this community as best you can.
🏳️‍🌈Get your Monkey Pox vaccine. We understand there is limited supply, but stay tuned to our instagram as we share any available appointments as they become available. Monkey Pox is disproportionately affecting gay men and may be spreading through sexual contact. Luckily, you can see the symptoms which include unusual lesions and swelling. We will continue to advocate for access for queer persons with our partners inside queer health. Vaccine appointments are added regularly here:  https://vchcdimms.janeapp.com/ 
🏳️‍🌈Consent is mandatory. Dark-rooms do not mean consent is given. You must ask or be given permission before touching anyone. You can say something like,  “May I have a taste, sir?”, or  “Do you want this D, boy?”. If someone says no, take it as a sign that someone else is waiting for your love elsewhere. There is something in store for everyone with the right attitude. Move on.
🏳️‍🌈We kindly ask our friends to refrain from the use of GHB at this event. For the safety of yourself, and the long-term viability of gay events, please do not use G at our events unless you want to be banned.
