Description
The Ottawa Jazz Festival's much anticipated annual benefit concert and live auction returns this year as 'Jazz Night Out'. This year's event, at the landmark National Library & Archives building on March 30th will feature a concert by the trailblazing and legendary Fred Hersch with his trio.
Tickets are $75, with a portion supporting Ottawa's Bruce House. Tickets include the concert, auction, delicious food from some of Ottawa's finest restaurants, a tax receipt for $50 and much more fun. Doors open at 6pm, with auction at 7pm and concert to follow.

A select member of jazz’s piano pantheon, Fred Hersch is a pervasively influential creative force who has shaped the music’s course over more than three decades as an improviser, composer, educator, bandleader, collaborator and recording artist. With some fifty albums to his credit as a leader or co-leader, he’s a 15-time Grammy Award nominee who continues to earn jazz’s most prestigious awards, including distinctions as a 2016 Doris Duke Artist and being named Jazz Pianist of the Year three times from the Jazz Journalists Association. Proclaimed “a living legend” by The New Yorker, Hersch has long defined jazz’s creative edge in a wide variety of settings, from his breathtaking solo recitals and exploratory duos to his extraordinary trios and innovative chamber settings. He has had duo partnerships with such diverse artists as vocalists Renee Fleming and Norma Winstone; clarinetist Anat Cohen; saxophonist Miguel Zenon guitarists Bill Frisell and Julian Lage and trumpeter Avishai Cohen; As a composer, he is a recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship– and his recent releases Breath By Breath with trio and the Crosby Street String Quartet; Live In Europe with his celebrated trio, the 2020 solo disc Songs From Home; and The Song Is You with trumpet legend Enrico Rava are definitive statements.
