Aliya Kanani

Aliya Kanani is a Toronto-based, award-winning comedian and Canadian Screen Award–nominated actress known for her vibrant stage presence and playful, mischievous humour. Her internationally acclaimed solo shows, including Where You From, From?, have sold out at major festivals such as Just for Laughs, Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Sydney Comedy Festival, and Edinburgh Fringe. She was recently awarded Best of Fest at Ottawa Fringe and Patron’s Pick at Toronto Fringe. On screen, Aliya earned a nomination for Best Actress for her lead role in the award-winning film Scarborough, and has had three films premiere at TIFF in as many years. Also a writer and producer, her creative credits include the web series Juicy, the sketch comedy show Abroad, and the pitch finalist series HYPE.
