Alice by Heart

Alice by Heart is a beautiful story about friendship and loss that takes place during the Blitz of 1940-1941, based on Lewis Carroll's, Alice In Wonderland. London was bombed by Germany over the course of 57 nights, and tube stations were used as refuge. They were cramped, food was scarce, and disease ran rampant. The musical follows teen Alice Spencer as she takes shelter in an underground tube station. To cope with her best friend Alfred's impending death from tuberculosis, Alice escapes into their cherished childhood book, leading the bunker's inhabitants on a magical journey down the rabbit hole, with songs representing the five stages of grief. Music by Duncan Sheik (Spring Awakening), book and lyrics by Jessie Nelson and Steven Sater.

Running Time: Approximately 100 minutes, presented in one act with no intermission.Content Advisory: Recommended for ages 13+. This production explores themes of love, loss, grief, growing up, and the realities of wartime.
