Aleksi Campagne

Aleksi grew up on stage. At five years old, he began performing alongside his mother, Canadian folk icon, Connie Kaldor. At nineteen, Aleksi moved to Paris to study under Jazz-violin legend Didier Lockwood. At twenty-one, Aleksi became the only student to have ever been accepted into the classical violin, the jazz violin and the jazz voice performance programs at McGill University. And, by twenty-five, with only a six-song EP, Aleksi graced the lineups of some of the most competitive folk festivals across Canada for three consecutive years - including the Regina, Canmore, and Bear Creek Folk Festivals.

Most recently, Aleksi received both a Canada Council Grant and a FACTOR Grant to fully fund the recording and production of his highly-anticipated 10-song debut album For the Giving, launching fall 2023. Still based out of his hometown of Montreal, Aleksi floors audiences by singing while bowing his violin and seamlessly navigating songs in English and in French. His original music blends folk songwriting with an edgy, multi-layered sound resulting from his unique combination of voice, violin, and looping-effect pedals.

Aleksi a grandi sur scène. À l'âge de cinq ans, il commence à se produire aux côtés de sa mère, Connie Kaldor, icône du folklore canadien. À dix-neuf ans, Aleksi s'installe à Paris pour étudier avec la légende du violon jazz Didier Lockwood. À vingt et un ans, Aleksi devient le seul étudiant à avoir été accepté dans les programmes de violon classique, de violon jazz et de voix jazz de l'Université McGill. Et à vingt-cinq ans, avec seulement un EP de six chansons, Aleksi a fait partie de la programmation de certains des festivals folk les plus compétitifs du Canada pendant trois années consécutives - y compris les festivals folk de Regina, de Canmore et de Bear Creek.

Plus récemment, Aleksi a reçu une subvention du Conseil des Arts du Canada et une subvention de FACTOR pour financer entièrement l'enregistrement et la production de son très attendu premier album de 10 chansons, For the Giving, qui sera lancé à l'automne 2023. Toujours basé à Montréal, sa ville natale, Aleksi surprend le public en chantant tout en jouant de l'archet avec son violon et en interprétant des chansons en anglais et en français. Sa musique originale allie l'écriture de chansons folk à un son nerveux et multicouche résultant de sa combinaison unique de voix, de violon et de pédales d'effets de boucle.
