Description
Magic and Mischief at SF’s Fine Arts Hall in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”
The Santa Fe College Fine Arts and Entertainment Technology Department invites audiences to experience the magic and comedy of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” William Shakespeare’s beloved play. This production, directed by Assistant Professor of Theatre Matthew Lindsay, marks the first full-length Shakespeare performance on the Jackson N. Sasser Fine Arts Hall stage.
From the spirited rivalry between Oberon and Titania to the romantic mishaps of Hermia, Lysander, Demetrius and Helena—plus the unforgettable spell-induced love affair between Titania and a donkey—this classic play has delighted audiences since its first performance in 1595. The production also features a play-within-a-play, a humorous take on the myth of Pyramus and Thisbe, performed by a troupe of well-meaning tradesmen.
Blending dance, live music, comedy and romance, this staging of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” promises an evening of wonder and entertainment.
Performances will take place at 7:30 p.m. on April 18, 19, 25 and 26 at the Jackson N. Sasser Fine Arts Hall, 3000 Northwest 83 Street, Gainesville.
Tickets are $16 for adults, $10 for seniors, students, military service members, and children 12 and under, and free for Santa Fe College students, faculty, and staff with a college ID. Tickets are available at the Fine Arts Hall Box Office at 352-395-4181 or online at Showpass.
This production is sponsored and organized by the Santa Fe College Fine Arts and Entertainment Technology Department.
