Description
Join The Military Museums in partnership with Calgary Salutes Committee for a commemorative evening marking the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Kapyong.
Called forward from reserve, the 2nd Battalion, Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry held a critical defensive position in the Kapyong Valley during a major enemy counter-attack. Despite being surrounded and under intense assault, Canadian soldiers held the line in a battle that proved pivotal. Ten Canadians were killed and 23 wounded. The battalion was later awarded the United States Presidential Unit Citation, a rare honour for a Canadian unit.
The evening will feature a keynote lecture by historian Dr. David Bercuson and presentations recognizing Valour Canada essay award recipients.
Doors Open: 6:30 PM
Admission is free. Donations are appreciated. A cash bar will be available in support of The Military Museums.
