Description

The 72 Hour Filmmaker Showdown, presented by YETI, is a captivating competition challenging teams to shoot, edit, and produce a 3–5 minute short film within an intense 72-hour timeframe. No big budgets or exotic locations required – we want to see your creativity shine within 100 km of Whistler, using any recording device of your choice.

Open to all aspiring filmmakers, this event demands grassroots grit, originality, imagination, and exceptional storytelling. The top films will premiere at the 72 Hour Filmmaker Showdown, presented by YETI, competing for a $5,000 first-place prize and the coveted People’s Choice Award.

But this isn’t just a film screening – it’s a full-throttle audience experience. Expect belly laughs, playful heckling, and a room buzzing with energy as the crowd cheers on their friends and these fearless new storytellers. A fully stocked bar keeps the good times flowing while you take in the magic (and mayhem) of films created in just 72 hours.

Our charitable partner for the 72-hour filmmaker showdown is Boarding For Breast Cancer. They will have a booth in the Foyer during the event to learn more about their work. In the meantime, check out their website!

WSSF gratefully and respectfully acknowledges that our events take place on the unceded territory of the Sk̲wx̲wú7mesh and Líl̓wat Nations. To learn more, please visit slcc.ca
