Master Class A 12:00-1:15
Caitlin Quinn (Cat) is a Graduate from George Mason University’s School of Dance. Originally from Windsor Locks, CT, Caitlin started training at a small recreational school focusing on jazz work before majoring in Dance at the Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts. Caitlin then went on to earn her BFA in Dance at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA. During her time at Mason’s School of Dance, Caitlin has been a part of 21 student choreographed pieces. She also performed in Robert Battle’s Mass, in the School’s 2017 Dance Gala Concert. During her collegiate career, she has had the opportunity to learn various repertory from Mark Morris, Lar Lubovitch, Doug Varone, and others. Additionally, she has trained at the Hartt School under the direction of Samantha Dunster, the Ailey School, Bounce! and at the Mark Morris Dance Group. Caitlin joined Dimensional Dance in May 2020, performing and choreographing works for the company under the direction of Ruth Lewis. She is also currently dancing with the 78 Dance Company under the direction of Ervis Nallbani.
This contemporary class is designed to connect and find stability in your body while still exploring moments of expression. There will be aspects of class pulled from traditional modern dance technique in order for dancers to find a strong sense of alignment and grounding. As class progresses students will be pushed to find ways to connect with their body as we start to take ourselves off balance and find moments of suspension and release. Throughout class dancers will be cued in to find ways where they can challenge themselves to make the simplest movements expressive and performative. At the end of class, dancers will be able to explore the duality of finding moments to dance with abandon while also maintaining the control to be able to come back to their technical base again.
Open Audition (optional) and Master Class B 1:30-3:00 with River Valley Dance Project, Dimensional Dance, and Ballet Hartford.
Please indicate if you are planning to audition when you register.
