Solitude - Gordon meets with Curtis for one of their weekly walks at their favourite forest trail when Curtis informs Gordon that he and his family have to relocate a few hours away for work. Gordon is opposed to this being confronted with the idea of being truly alone, however Curtis reassures him that he will still find time to come down to visit to have their weekly walks. When Curtis misses their next walk due to complications at work, Gordon struggles with feeling left behind and forgotten. He reminisces of the times he was surrounded by family, wishing he could have it all back. Ultimately, he is able to find new inspiration, and learns to adapt to overcome the situation. Watch Trailer

GUEST SPEAKERS:
Henry Daeman is an emerging young director who was born in the Netherlands and raised in southwestern Ontario. During his time in Sheridan College's Film and Television program he made is directorial debut's with his short films Freebird (2021) and Solitude (2021). Henry currently works in the film and television industry in the camera and lighting departments as well as working on visual effects. His career goal is to direct a feature film or narrative series and to continue sharing emotional experiences with audiences through film. Henry always strives to put a lot of heart into his stories and capture the small things that make life so beautiful.
Dr. Verena Menec has published extensively in the field of aging. Her interests lie in the areas of social determinants of healthy aging, social inclusion, and age-friendly communities as a way to promote healthy aging. Her work includes having served on the board of the Canadian Association on Gerontology from 2014-2020, first as chair of the social science division and subsequently as vice-president. She was the director of the Centre on Aging at the University of Manitoba from 2004 to 2014 and she is the Manitoba site lead of the Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging, the largest study on aging ever conducted in Canada that will follow approximately 50,000 men and women between the ages of 45 and 85 for at least 20 years.
ACCESSIBILITY
All films will be either subtitled or closed captioned.
All ReCast screenings (short film series with speakers) will have American Sign Language (ASL) Interpretation of the screening introduction and Q&A sessions.

HOW TO "ATTEND" THE EVENT ONLINE
Your email confirmation from Showpass (once you have bought your ticket) will contain your unique personalized link to the event. It will be in the body of the email - not in the ticket that is attached to the email.
Your link should not be shared - once it is used, it cannot be used again to access the screening. Just prior to the start of the event, click that link and you will be taken to a website where you can watch the film, its live introduction and live Q&A/close after the film.
If you have lost or deleted your confirmation email from Showpass, please email "help@thirdactionfilmfest.ca" AT LEAST 1 HOUR PRIOR TO SHOWTIME. We will be able to help you.

There are no refunds or exchanges unless a screening or event is cancelled. All passholders and tickets holders should be either in cinema 10 minutes prior to the scheduled start time or if attending online, 5 minutes prior to scheduled start time.
