2026 LSS Graduation Gala

Please kindly read the following information carefully!

Event Description

Join us for a night of celebrating our last three years together, featuring a buffet dinner, awards, dancing, and more.

Your ticket includes:

• Buffet dinner & dessert
• Red & white table wine during dinner
• DJ, dancing, and professional event photography
• Access to an exclusive discount on room reservations at the Paradox Hotel (details circulated via email upon purchase of a Gala ticket) 
• Door prize raffle ticket 

There will be a cash bar. Please drink responsibly. You may be refused entrance by venue staff if you arrive to the event overly intoxicated. 

Cocktail hour will run from 5:30-6:30pm and the formal program begins at 6:30pm. We will circulate an official Gala program and seating chart by email in advance of the Gala. Please ensure you arrive with enough time to find your seats before the formal program begins. 

Ticket Sales

Student Tickets:

• Each graduate may purchase one student ticket beginning on Monday, February 16th at 12:30pm

Plus-one Tickets:

• IMPORTANT: When purchasing a plus-one ticket, enter your guest’s first and last name in the designated fields and use your guest’s email address for the email field. Only enter your own name in the field requesting the graduating student’s name.
• To prioritize capacity for graduating students, graduates are only able to bring one guest to the gala
• Plus-ones must provide the name and Student ID number of the graduate with whom they will be attending to complete their purchase
• Excess plus-one ticket purchases will be voided and refunded
• Plus-one tickets will become available on Thursday, February 19th at 12:30pm

Subsidized tickets 

• The Graduation Committee wants all graduates to be able to enjoy the Gala and celebrate their achievements. Accordingly, we have made a small number of free and discounted tickets available for graduating students (not plus ones) 
• If ticket cost is a barrier to your attendance, please send a brief statement of need to Jeremy Schmidt at adstudents@allard.ubc.ca by Wednesday, February 18th at 11:59pm and he will review the requests and make recommendations for allocation 
• If you have been allocated a subsidized ticket, you will be contacted by Monday, February 23rd
• All requests for a subsidized or free ticket will be treated as confidential

Ticket sales will run until Wednesday, February 25 at 11:59pm or until sold out.  

!!! IMPORTANT: LIABILITY WAIVER !!!

• To attend this, all attendees must complete a liability and insurance waiver linked HERE by Monday, March 2nd at 11:59pm
• You must agree to this waiver before being allowed into the event
• To verify your identity, you must sign in with a Gmail account to complete the liability waiver online. If you do not have a Gmail account, please email graduationcommittee@ubclss.com to arrange for a paper waiver

Accessibility & Dietary Needs

• The Paradox Hotel is wheelchair accessible.
• The buffet menu accommodates vegetarian diets and most common food allergies. Vegan, gluten-free, and allergy-friendly options are available upon request--we cannot accommodate dietary or ingredient preferences
• In order to be accommodated, you must provide your dietary restrictions HERE, by Wednesday, February 25 at 11:59pm
• If you have any concerns related to accessibility, please contact the LSS Ombudsperson at ombuds@ubclss.com 

Seating Requests

• Students may submit table and seating requests HERE, until Monday, March 2nd at 11:59pm  
• Tables will be seated in groups of 10
• Please have one person per table group submit the group preference.
• While the Graduation Committee will make every effort to accommodate seating preferences, we cannot guarantee all requests
• Plus-ones will be seated immediately next to the student associated with their purchased ticket
• Groups smaller than 10 people may still submit requests to sit together
