Luke and the Apostles 60th Anniversary

Luke and the Apostles is one of Toronto’s legendary blues rock bands and has been part of the Canadian music scene since 1964. They were regulars in the clubs of Yorkville Village throughout the sixties when they recorded the single Been Burnt for Elektra Records. They shared the bill with the Grateful Dead in New York, played Nathan Phillips Square and the O’Keefe Centre with the Dead and the Jefferson Airplane. In 1970, they released You Make Me High on True North Records. Luke Gibson was also a member of Kensington Market in between Apostle reunions, while Mike McKenna was playing with Mainline.

This year marks the sixtieth anniversary of a band that inspired many Canadian musicians (Tom Cochrane, Geddy Lee and more ) and is still going. Saturday October 5.
