Opening the evening is Toronto-based singer-songwriter Clela Errington, whose rich blend of folk, jazz, and roots music has drawn comparisons to Alison Krauss and Eva Cassidy. With warmth and honesty, Clela’s songs explore love, resilience, and the meaning of home. She’ll offer a preview of her upcoming album Walkin’ Each Other Home, recorded live off the floor with producer Jimmy Bowskill and set for release this fall.

Kick off your Easter weekend with one of Toronto’s most captivating song interpreters as Genevieve Marentette (Gigi) brings Songs of ’69 to Hugh’s Room. Following a celebrated album launch at Koerner Hall, Genevieve reimagines the music of 1969, a year of cultural revolution, through her singular voice and jazz-infused artistry.

"A delightful listen from beginning to end… strong but delicate… with exquisite vocals and close attention to the lyrics." – David Clayton-Thomas (Blood, Sweat & Tears)

"This album is quite a unique take on classic-era rock songs, presenting them in a new light… 'Undun' and 'These Eyes' are quite cool in her jazzy style. I love them." – Randy Bachman (The Guess Who)

Gigi's lens spins this trip of nostalgia sweetly as she re-awakens and re-imagines some of the music of a time of raw soul, heart, love, and deep feeling.”  John Devenish - JAZZ.FM91

With a setlist featuring songs by Bob Dylan, King Crimson, John Fogerty, Nick Drake, The Guess Who, and more, Genevieve will be joined by George Koller, Eric St-Laurent, Ben Wittman and Jeremy Ledbetter, playing on HRL's brand new C7 grand piano.

296 Broadview is not yet a fully wheelchair accessible venue, with stairs between all levels. Our goal is to fix that, and we need your support to do so - please consider making a donation towards our goals to make HRL the best listening room in Toronto!
