Gender Equity & STEM Virtual Conference

The UBC Gender Equity & STEM Conference will centre on the role of women and gender-oppressed communities in STEM fields in the past, present, and future. These communities have historically been underrepresented and disadvantaged in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).

The goal of this conference is to increase awareness and deepen understanding of the complexities of the gender gap in STEM, facilitate discussion around common experiences of gender-oppressed communities, and equip attendees with the inspiration and motivation to tackle the STEM gender gap in their own spheres.

Topics will include the stigma and bias women and gender-oppressed communities face when pursuing careers and education in STEM, how gender-oppressed communities have made a positive impact on the world through STEM, how the gender gap in STEM can best be addressed through policy and innovation, and the societal, health and economic impacts of addressing this gap.

Everyone is welcome to attend and more information about our speakers as well as a detailed schedule will soon be available on our website. Schedule is subject to change.

The UBC Gender Equity & STEM Conference 2020 is hosted by the UBC Young Women for STEM in partnership with the UBC Department of Physics and Astronomy.

Please purchase tickets under same name as the Zoom account you will be using, and the email where you would like to receive the invitation link. If you purchase multiple tickets, you can transfer them online to another attendee via Showpass. Only registered attendees will be granted access to the event. The Zoom link will be sent closer to the date of the event.
