Discoveries Vol. 9 is hosted and curated by Derek Downham, an award-winning producer/multi-instrumentalist and songwriter. He has written, recorded and played live/toured with many of Canada's finest bands and artists such as Gord Downie, Serena Ryder, Andy Kim, Ron Sexsmith and many more. Artists for this show include:

SARAH-JAYNE RILEY
Dynamic and magnetic, the multi-talented Sarah-Jayne Riley combines hook-heavy songcraft with pull-no-punches storytelling. Her forthcoming debut full-length album, Subtle Disobedience (2026) has been shaped alongside Canadian icons Chantal Kreviazuk, Kayla Diamond, and (Juno award winner) Maia Davies.

NICKOLA MAGNOLIA
Nickola Magnolia’s brand of outlaw country moves between Nashville and the open road, turning life’s heartbreaks into cathartic anthems. Her new album “Bad Woman” is slated for wide release in 2026, further cementing her reputation as country music’s “Dark Dolly”.

KEVIN MKAI
Toronto’s KEVIN MKAI creates glorious dream pop/shoegaze music that lives in the space between intimacy and atmosphere. Expansive and personal, Kevin strips the songs back to their acoustic origins in a live setting, revealing the raw emotion and songwriting at the core of his work. His debut self-titled album is slated for a 2026 release.

D.B. BUXTON
Multi-faceted artist D.B. Buxton’s music heralds a unique voice and dexterous guitar-work deeply rooted in folk, blues and jazz. D.B.’s colourful history as a busker living on the fringes of society informs his songs of love, loss and alienation. Fans of artists like Tim Hardin, Judee Sill and Elliott Smith will find solace in D.B.’s work. New album coming in 2026

CRAIG STICKLAND
Craig Stickland is a Juno nominated pop/folk singer-songwriter. His songs are illuminated by his soulful voice and infectious melodies. A formidable musician, Craig has garnered tens of millions of streams and is currently recording his second full length album which is due later this year

VIOLET FOX
Having freshly released her single “Knots” on January 15th, Violet Fox is an 18 year old singer/songwriter ready to make her mark on the Toronto, and eventually national music scene.
